How to register an Australian (.com.au or .au) Domain

The Australian Domain Administrator (auDA) is a legal Australian body responsible for the administration of .au domain names. The rules and policies set by the auDA can be found at the attached links, along with further information at auDA’s Help Centre.

Before you start:

Domain names cannot be updated once registered. Double check your domain carefully when registering to avoid misspelling.

To register a .au domain you must have an Australian Presence, which usually comes in the form of an ABN or ACN.

Step 1 - Choose the domain you'd like to register. This page will help you check availability.

Step 2 - Once you find the domain you'd like, select Add to Cart then Checkout.

Step 4 - Fill out the Registrant details. These must match the details on the ABN or ACN used. You are able to look up your ABN/ACN at the following link:

Step 5 - Continue through the checkout. If this is your first product with us, you will be prompted to set up an account for the management of your domain.

Step 6 - After payment is made, our system will automatically send a register request to the AUDA, who will review the domain eligibility.
